2. BUCKET / FISHERMAN HAT –
The bucket hat was a common feature of 90’s fashion, ushered into main stream fashion by Hip-hop artists like Rakim and LL cool J in the 80’s and Moni Love in the 90’s. The comeback looks inevitable as Asos included it its essential summer wear campaign. Unlike Visors this item holds more room, for experimentation with colours notably with M$$XWT Rasta print bucket hat.
3. HIGH-WAISTED MOM JEANS&CROP TOPS –
Arguably one of the most prominent trends for a 90’s female. But along the years, it became less attractive, as skinny and fitted jeans became more popular. The spacious pure cotton Denim sensation is again coupled with Crop Tops which have managed to stay trendy from the 90s until 2016.
4. AIR MAX 95’s –
These sneakers were a 90s phenomenon, and widely acclaimed. Over the past year it has already become a must have item in the UK street scene and is set stay that way this summer.
A key player in 90’s fashion for both sexes but now in 2016. The key trend for the first half of this year was that girls welcomed the trend openly and the majority of guys haven’t followed through possibly because it wasn’t fashionable anymore. But as the summer approaches more men have feel comfortable wearing them, recently Swift from Section Boyz who modelled the look in the ‘eye for an eye 2’ music video. Giving the trend the ‘roadman’ seal of approval.
6. CHOKERS –
This 90’s trend was statement jewellery for any 90’s girl. It was affordable and stylish. The trend made a comeback in summer 2015 and is set to do the same this summer.
7. WINDBREAKERS –
The free, spacious nylon feel is back. But ditching the neon edge of the 90’s. Chris Brown and Benny Benassi’s summer joint ‘Paradise’ features a black and yellow North Face & Supreme windbreaker in the video. With a summer that is set to be one of the hottest in records, windbreakers look to be good fit for stylish jacket wear that doesn’t attract too much heat.
8. CLASSIC SPORTS BRANDS –
Ellese, Reebok and Fila who respectively had their moments in the 90’s were drowned in the new millennium by Nike and Adidas. However, the UK Grime scene has ushered them back into the mainstream in the form of a full tracksuit this year and it is set to stay that way.
9. DARKLIPSTICK –
Dark, Bold and Daring. It was widely accepted, but pioneered by celebs like Drew BARRYMORE. In 2016 Kylie Jenner’s famous lips have undoubtedly revived the trend in preparation for ‘Summer 16’ especially the colours Burgundy and Purple.
10. CRISS-CROSS HEADBANDS –
It’s almost unexplainable why this trend deceased but its resurgence is a positive one. Janet Jackson’s iconic scene in Poetic Justice (1993) with Tupac is exemplary of when the headband is worn to perfection. That early 90’s feels is going to be a great addition to ‘Summer 16’.
